What to Do When Walls Don't Match Drawings
- Measure Twice, Cut Once On-Site: Before installation, re-measure your actual wall dimensions and angles using a laser measure or square tool. Compare these with your original drawings to identify any discrepancies, such as a 1-2 mm shift or a corner not being perfectly 90 degrees.
- Use Adjustable Supports: Our benchtops come with a slight tolerance for minor adjustments. Use adjustable legs or shims under the benchtop to level it against uneven walls. For angled walls, consider a custom-cut filler strip (like a matching marble or a discreet trim) to bridge gaps.
- Trim the Benchtop Edges (If Needed): If the wall is off by more than 3-5 mm, carefully trim the back edge using a diamond blade wet saw. Always cut from the back side to preserve the polished front face. For angled walls, cut the benchtop edge at the same angle as the wall using a miter saw or angle grinder.
- Seal Gaps with Silicone: After installation, fill any small gaps (up to 3 mm) with a color-matched silicone sealant. This hides imperfections and prevents moisture damage. For larger gaps, use a marble-based filler or a custom-cut marble strip.
- Professional Help for Complex Cases: If walls are severely out of square or have large deviations (over 10 mm), consult a professional installer. They can create a template on-site and send it back to us for a custom adjustment.
